Environment as a Service

Turning bespoke setups into a reliable, repeatable product experience.

A shift in thinking that treats software learning and evaluation environments not as one-off provisioning projects, but as a product — with a catalogue, a lifecycle, and clear standards of quality. It reframed a support function as something that could scale.

When every environment is hand-crafted, teams burn hours reinventing setups, and quality drifts. The bottleneck is not technology but framing.

Applied a Double Diamond lens — first widening to understand the real jobs environments were doing for different audiences, then narrowing into a small set of durable patterns. The rest was product discipline: intake, SLAs, feedback loops, and a shared vocabulary.

Environments began to feel like a service you could rely on rather than a favour you had to request. Hundreds of hours of manual setup moved into automation.
