A live, hands-on environment for certification candidates in a complex commerce platform — moved from beta to general availability with real-time provisioning, waitlist handling, and thoughtful access windows. It let candidates practise on the real thing, not a screenshot.
The problem
Certification programmes usually rely on second-hand experiences — slide decks, screenshots, or shared demo instances. Candidates arrive at exams under-practised because the real environment is expensive to run.
The approach
Combined automation, cost controls, and time-boxed access to make hands-on practice viable at scale. Ran a structured beta first — a small cohort, honest feedback, a clear list of what had to change before GA. Access controls, credit ceilings, and auto-termination protected the fleet without hurting the experience.
The outcome
A certification path that includes real practice as a first-class part of the journey, available on demand to thousands of candidates worldwide.
