A living handover document — with owners, statuses, links, and appendices — designed to make the transfer of complex, multi-stream work feel calm rather than chaotic. It grew into a small template for closing a chapter of work responsibly.
The problem
Handovers are usually written in a rush, at the end, by someone already halfway out the door. What gets lost is not information but judgement.
The approach
Written incrementally, in the open, over months. Structured so each item carried not just a description but a reason: why it exists, what it depends on, who to talk to. Simple table-of-contents thinking, applied with care.
The outcome
A clean sign-off, a receiving team that felt equipped, and a personal template for next time. Transition became a design problem, not a scramble.
